I think you mean $125 *million* spacecraft (worth around $210 USD million today) was lost not because of an 'English' engineering team. It was lost because one team was using *English Units* (pounds, feet etc) whereas another team was using the Metric system of Newtons, metres etc. Assumptions were made as to what the units were instead of it being explicitly stated.
